The Solution
Bondbox aims to ease the tension new roommates often feel by encouraging connection through arts and crafts.
Creative activities are a proven way to break the ice, and build meaningful relationships in a low-pressure, engaging environment.
With Bondbox, these moments are designed not only to spark connection, but to extend beyond the initial activity that encourages ongoing interaction.
The Problem
Among single young adults in the U.S. ages 18–24 who live independently, the majority share their space with roommates.
Alongside this reality comes the often overlooked experience of moving in with a stranger… and the awkwardness and adjustment that can come with it.
Design Approach
The Design
Creating a toolkit that felt comforting was a top priority. I developed a color palette that feels homey and slightly handcrafted– mirroring the arts and crafts experience within the box itself.
Because the system incorporates a stamping feature, I carried that texture throughout the identity, integrating it into both the logo and the box’s decorative elements. The quilt pattern lining the interior serves as a personal nod to the quilts in my own shared living space.
Inspiration
This design draws from the warm, homey palette of the apartment I shared with roommates. Influenced by quilted textures, layered patterns, and rich, comforting colors, the visual direction reflects a sense of lived-in warmth and personal connection.

The Impact
Bondbox grew out of my own experiences and a social dynamic that so many of us face.
Moving in with someone new can feel like an awkward adjustment, but it doesn’t have to be. Sharing a home shouldn’t be a source of anxiety or something to simply endure; it can be an opportunity to build genuine friendships.
Bondbox is proof that we can turn small moments like arts and crafts into something meaningful, and build connections that last.
